  • 1. Who We Are

    retirementhomesmississauga.ca (the “Site”) is one of many city‑based senior‑housing and service directories powered by SeniorCareAccess.com (the “Platform”).

    All sites are owned and operated by Lifestyle 55+ Network Inc., an Ontario corporation (“Lifestyle 55+,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

  • 2. Scope

    This Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information obtained through the Site, the Platform, and any other online services we control (collectively, the “Services”).

    It does not cover information gathered offline, third‑party websites, or the independent practices of residences or service providers you contact.

    By using the Services, you accept the practices set out below. We may revise this Policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date reflects the current version.

    Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site or by email where practical.

  • 3. Legal Compliance

    We comply with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and with any provincial privacy statutes that apply to our operations, including Québec’s Law 25 and the Personal Information Protection Acts (PIPA) of Alberta and British Columbia.

    We also observe Canada’s Anti‑Spam Legislation (CASL).

    Because our primary servers and most operational staff are located in Ontario, personal information collected in Alberta or British Columbia may be transferred outside those provinces.

    Every such transfer is carried out in accordance with Alberta PIPA, BC PIPA, and PIPEDA, using contractual and technical safeguards that ensure a comparable level of protection for the data.

  • a Consumer (families, seniors, adult children, or other individual visitors), or
  • a Residence / Service Provider (retirement residence, home‑care agency, realtor, downsizer, or other business user).
  • 4.1 Consumers

    Basic contact details – your name, province, city, postal code, email address and, if you choose to supply it, a phone number.

    Account credentials – the password you select when you create an optional login on SeniorCareAccess.com.

    Email enquiries – if you complete a “Contact this residence/service” form, the message is forwarded to the chosen provider and to our general inbox solely to confirm delivery; we do not store the message content in any database.

    Communication preferences – only if you actively subscribe to newsletters or alerts.

    Anonymous usage data – page views, general location (city‑level IP geolocation), device type, and similar analytics that cannot be linked back to you personally.

    We do not collect any additional personal or sensitive information from consumers.

  • 4.2 Residences / Service Providers

    Contact information – business name, address, public telephone number, general email, plus a staff contact person’s name, role, direct phone, and email.

    Account credentials – login ID and hashed password for the SeniorCareAccess.com provider portal.

    Residence / service data – descriptions, pricing ranges, amenities, photos, staffing details, and any other information you voluntarily submit for public listing.

    Usage data – login timestamps, listing edits, and performance metrics (e.g., page‑view counts).

    Communication preferences – newsletter opt‑ins, reminders, renewal notifications and product‑update requests.

  • 5. How We Use the Information:

  • We use consumer information only to:
  • create and protect your optional account;
  • forward your enquiry to the residence or service provider you select;
  • send newsletters or alerts only if you have opted in; and
  • generate anonymous analytics that help us improve site performance and content relevance.
  • for Residences / Service Providers
  • We use business‑user information to:
  • create and manage your provider‑portal account;
  • publish and update your public listing on the Platform and related city sites;
  • analyze listing performance and usage;
  • send operational notices, service updates, and—where you have not opted out—marketing communications, reminders and renewal notifications;
  • maintain the security and integrity of our systems.
  • All subsequent sections of this Policy (sharing practices, cookies, security, retention, international transfers, your rights, etc.) apply equally to both categories of users unless otherwise noted.
  • 6. When We Disclose Personal Information

    We do not sell or rent your data. We disclose it only:

    At your request or direction—for example, when you ask us to forward your details to a residence.

    Within Lifestyle 55+ Network Inc.—to employees who require the information to perform their duties.

    With trusted service providers—such as hosting companies, analytics vendors, and email platforms that process information on our behalf under confidentiality agreements. Some may be located outside Canada (see “International Transfers”).

    Where legally required or to protect rights—for example, in response to a court order or to prevent fraud.

  • 7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

    We use first‑party cookies and third‑party tools (e.g. Google Analytics, etc.) to remember preferences, analyze traffic, measure marketing effectiveness, and enable social‑sharing features. You can control cookies in your browser; disabling them may affect site functionality.

  • 8. Security

    We employ industry‑standard safeguards, including HTTPS, firewalls, role‑based access controls, and continuous monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute protection.

  • 9. Data Retention

    Personal information is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Aggregated or de‑identified data may be kept indefinitely.

  • 10. International Transfers

    Some service providers store or process data in the United States or other jurisdictions. While in those countries, data may be subject to local laws and lawful access requests. We require providers to protect data to standards comparable to Canadian law.

  • 11. Your Rights Under PIPEDA you may:

    request access to personal information we hold about you;

    ask for corrections to inaccurate or incomplete personal information;

    withdraw consent for future marketing communications;

    request deletion of personal information we are not legally required to keep;

    file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your personal data has been mishandled.

    Please note: PIPEDA does not apply to an employee’s name, title, business address, business telephone number or email when used solely to communicate with that person in relation to their job (s. 4.01). Facts about a company (revenues, number of beds in a residence, pricing, service descriptions, etc.) are not “personal” and therefore fall outside PIPEDA.

  • 12. Children

    Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us so we can delete it.

  • 13. Third‑Party Links and Ads

    The Site links to residence websites and other resources not controlled by Lifestyle 55+ Network. Their privacy practices may differ; please review their policies. Third‑party ads may set cookies; we do not share identifiable visitor data with advertisers.
